DSU Women’s Bowling Team Bus Involved in Single-Vehicle Accident

A charter bus transporting the Delaware State University Women’s Bowling Team was involved in a single-vehicle accident in Dinwiddie County, Va., as the team traveled to a scheduled tournament. This was according to a news report from DSU’s news outlet, the e-News.

The accident took place Thursday, February 23, 2023, just after 11:15 a.m. on U.S. 85, when the charter bus they were in reportedly ran off the road and overturned.

The chartered bus – which carried the 8-player team, the coach, a University staff member, and the bus driver – was headed to North Carolina A&T University, where the bowling team was scheduled to compete in a tournament this weekend.

The injured occupants were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Upon the news of the accident, Athletic Director Alecia Shields-Gadsden and Head Training Roger Pfister immediately drove to Dinwiddie County. Five of the players were treated for minor injuries and released, while five are remaining in the hospital overnight for observation as a precaution.

Due to the accident, the team will not compete this weekend in the tournament.
