Dr. Julius Garvey is going to speak at Delaware State University today, February 7, in the Education and Humanities Theatre, from 7:00-9:00pm. According to the DSU events calendar, Dr. Julius Garvey, son of Marcus Garvey will also host a book signing at the event.
Dr. Julius Garvey is going to share some impactful words about his father’s journey becoming a prominent activist for the civil rights movement. He will also speak about his book and sign some for the audience.
Blair Daniel, a Delaware State University junior said, she ” loves the fact her historically black university is bringing history to them.” Other students are also excited about being apart of this moment. Cara Bentley, a sophomore at the university said, “not everyone gets a chance to actively participate in making history.”
It is Black History month on the HBCU campus of Delaware State University, and there are plenty of events organized to celebrate black rich history. Delaware State University is making sure students are familiar with more than the average Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King and Harriet Tubman lessons that have been a part of the curriculum since kindergarten.
