Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Program held January 16th in the Education and Humanities Building Theater, from 12 pm to 1pm.
The 37th annual program celebration was presented through a collaboration with Delaware State University and the Inner-City Cultural League. This program featured Karyl D. Hubbard, Secretary of Labor, and the Sankofa String Orchestra & Drums.
The event which was free and open to the public, was direced by Mrs. Aleasha Dorsett, Director of University Events, Ceremonies, and Commencemen (ardorsett@desu.edu.).
Classes were not held in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday; the campus had stayed busy on this holiday for years.
According to the Delaware State University Archives, the annual noon celebration program in 2015 had, “The entire Delaware congressional delegation – U.S. SenatorsTom Carper and Chris Coons and U.S. Rep. John Carney – as well as State Sen. Brian Bushweller and Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen attended the program at DSU and gave remarks.”
