On Wednesday, September 28, the Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program (EICOP) brought their HBCU in LA college tour to Delaware State University. Students were introduced to the 10-12 week internship program they developed that allows students an inside look into the media industry.
The event was coordinated by Mass Communications instructor, Ava Perrine and Stacy Milner. “We wanted to establish an organization that would help bring HBCU students to Los Angeles to work and live in LA for their internships,” Milner explained. “Executives in the entertainment industries talk about the need for diversity, so this program allows them to put their money where their mouths are”.
Students will have the opportunity to join workshops with professionals to assist in leveraging their careers, complete resume workshops, tour studios, attend movie screenings, and even shadow executives in the industry.
The application for HBCU in LA is now open and closes on December 16 at 11:59 PT. For more information, students should visit their website at https://eicop.org/.
