DSU “Dreams & Nightmares” Homecoming Premiere

Sydnee Fairweather

On Tuesday, September 27th,  Delaware State University’s Campus Activities Board announced who will be performing at the 2022 homecoming concert and yard show.

The Martin Luther King Center was packed from front to back with people eager to learn who will be performing at this year’s homecoming events. Everyone was trying to find a space on the first and second floor to see the screen, where the performers were being announced.

There was a technical issue that delayed the announcement almost thirty-five minutes, but everyone stayed and waited patiently for information on homecoming to be released.

Delaware State University’s 2022 homecoming concert will feature: Meek Mill, Moneybagg Yo, Nardo Wick, and  Flow + friends!! The concert is on Friday, October 28, in the Memorial Hall gym. The gym doors will open at 10:00 pm and the concert will start at 11:00 pm. Tickets go on sale October third for $60 until October 22. On October 22 the ticket price will increase to $70.

Remember that the homecoming concert is only for Delaware State University students. No outside guests are allowed.

Last year the homecoming concert was announced outside in Alumni Stadium. The stadium  bleachers were filled with students just like the MLK center was on Tuesday, September 27th. Last year there was the same type of excitement among  students to know who was  performing at the 2021 homecoming concert. First the campus activities board tricked students by saying performers like Bruno Mars were going to perform, and then saying it was a Joke. The real performers were 42 Dugg, A- Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and EST Gee. Students really liked the performers that were chosen, especially students from New York.

This years “Who Runs The Yard ” step show will have a special performance featuring GloRilla. The step show will be on Thursday,  October 27,  in the Memorial Hall gym.  The gym doors will open at 6:30 pm and the show will start at 8:00 pm.

Tickets for the “Who Runs The Yard” step show will be on sale until October 21. Tickets for students are $25 and $35 for the general population. On October 27, the ticket price will increase to $30 for students and $40 for the general population.

After every performer was announced there was a loud cheer of excitement from the student body. Some people danced and sung along with the video presentation of the performers’ music videos. Everyone seemed very happy with the set list for this year so tickets are probably gonna sell out soon.

A student named Alexis said of the Homecoming: “I think it was a very long wait, but the wait was worth it.”
