University Family, We’re on the move! And I’m more than ready! Are you? This “RED OUT” weekend marks the opening of our Fall athletics season! We’ve got home openers: Volleyball on Friday @ 4 p.m. vs. University of Hartford; and on Saturday @ 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. vs. Quinnipiac University & Loyola University Maryland, respectively Football on Saturday @ 2 p.m. against Lincoln University Women’s Soccer on Monday @ 6 p.m. against Manhattan College I’m more than ready to cheer for our Delaware State University student-athletes. I’m more than ready to take my place in the stands as a member of #HornetNation. I’m more than ready to applaud the efforts of those called “to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield.” Some say that sport has no correlation to the work of humanity, but I argue against those good souls. In our games, we locate God-given grit. In our pain, we summon forth perseverance. In our struggle, we find glory. And each other. To our coaches, trainers, and staff…to our athletes, cheerleaders, and fans… I say thank you in advance. Your efforts will serve as lessons to us all this year—as we learn from our perceived failures, push past our known limits, and ready ourselves for something greater. In all things, we are at our best when we are “in the game.” Together, we are more than ready. |
