Charted in April 1955, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s Delta Lambda Chapter was the first AKA undergraduate chapter in the state of Delaware. In recognition of the Sorority’s founding on Wednesday, January 15, 1908 and the founders, the Delta Lambda chapter has designated Wednesday as PreTTy Wednesday. This day is set aside to highlight chapter members and our many accomplishments both on and off campus. Every Wednesday, we also dress in business casual attire, ready to tackle the day with class and elegance.
Today, the chapter like the Sorority continues to grow. Delta Lambda has a current membership of 38 members made up of leaders, role models and trail blazers. We aim to serve communities by volunteering at shelters, schools, hospitals, and mentoring youth, all while achieving excellence in our academic and personal lives.
Throughout the chapter’s history, the members have been recognized numerous times by the Sorority and the University. This award-winning chapter will continue to create entertaining, educational and community service-oriented programs for the students of DSU and the Dover community.
