On September 11, 2021 the Alumni Legacy League held its first of many events. The Meet and Greet was for students and their families to build and connect with one another.
Prior to the start of Delaware State vs Georgetown football game, a group of Delaware State alumni came together to host a meet and greet which included live music, food, games and even a 360 booth.
The Alumni Legacy League is a network of alumni who have children, nieces, nephews and, even cousins who are now attending Delaware State. The meet and greet was a way to get students and their families to network and create a connection between the past present and future Hornets.
Meeshach Stennett, who is a 1998 Graduate of Delaware State, is one of the organizers who came up with the idea of hosting the Meet and Greet. Stennett said, “ Del State to me is about family, once you graduate you only stay close to those who you were around. Stennett continues with “ When creating this type of network it keeps you connected.”
Following the game the fun still continued.
Maaliyah Stennett, who is a Freshman majoring in Business Management said, “I liked the event and I met Dasia and Imani and it was nice meeting people that I go to school with.”
Imani Hassell, who is a Junior majoring in Criminal Justice said, “the event was very beneficial and if this is done annually it would be a lot easier for those having a hard time meeting friends this is a great way to do so.”
Dasia Hassell, who is a Junior majoring in Criminal Justice said, “It felt like a spark of great connection, that our parents went here and now their children are going here as well. And I hope that they keep this going.”
