How did the Buccaneers manage to find success and get back into their Super Bowl limelight? The Franchise in their history only has one other Super Bowl Championship title to their name from 2002.
One major contributor to their Super Bowl this year was Head Coach Bruce Arians. According to Scott Smith, Senior Writer for the Buccaneers, “Bruce Arians won two Super Bowl rings during an eight-year run as a Pittsburgh Steelers assistant, first as a wide receivers coach in 2005 and then as the offensive coordinator in 2008”.
Prior to Arian’s arrival to the Buccaneers in the 2019 season, the team had struggled to make it backto the playoffs. However, with his skills as a head coach and the addition of a few players to the roster, theTampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off the Super Bowl LV upset against the Kansas City Chiefs: 31-9.“
Brady was asked on the podium whether or not he would be back for his 22nd season.” In a CBSinterview, “We’re coming back,” Brady noted. “Yeah, we’re coming back.” Brady’s states after his 2021Superbowl win.
With adding key players such as former New England Patriots Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and former Pittsburgh Steelers Antonio Brown, the Buccaneers secured the victory.“
Antonio and I connected right away. He has a great love for the game — just a real perfectionist for how he plays, how he takes care of himself”, Brady says.“ Incredible football IQ. And then, again, a great skill set just as a player. And, I think, made incredible strides over thelast12 months to get from where he was to where he is now”.
Similar to the 2002 Super Bowl-winning team, the Buccaneers defensive success, was a large part of their Super Bowl LV win. This year’s Bucs defensive game plan was to pressure Patrick Mahomes, keeping him uncomfortable and not allowing to formulate and execute plays.
The 2002 team had a similar game plan, not allowing opposing Raiders quarterback, Rich Gannon, to get comfortable which led to my errors by that Raiders offense. Both Superbowl-winning teams let their “Front Sevens,” dictate the outcomes of both Super Bowls as Mahomes was sacked three times compared toGannon’s five total sacks.
All in all, the Buccaneers have come a long way. The road back to the Super Bowl has been tough, but they are not done yet; Quarterback Tom Brady, Tight End Rob Gronkowski, and Head Coach Bruce Arians look to return back next season and continue their success. Along with key defensive players such as Linebacker Lavonte David, Linebacker Shaq Barrett, and Defensive Tackle Ndamukong Suh.
