DSU Mourns Sophomore, Devin M. Wright

DSU President, Tony Allen, released a signed statement after attending Devin M. Wright’s vigil:

Earlier today, I attended a vigil remembering one of our students, Devin M. Wright, a sophomore New Media in Arts major who was tragically killed over
the weekend in Dover.

As I looked around the gathering, I saw students in shock and deeply saddened by the loss of a young man they knew as a classmate and friend. Devin’s life was cut short through no fault of his own – a son, a brother, a student who will never have the opportunity to graduate college, find a good job, raise a family, or give back to his community.

We grieve with Devin’s family and friends and remain deeply appreciative of his spirit – one that has moved so many of us on campus to engage in prayer and reflection throughout the day. In these moments, I am reminded of this passage from Psalm 91: “The will of God will not take you, where the grace of God cannot keep you.”  For all those who love Devin, may God’s grace be with you now and always.

Tony Allen, Ph.D.President
