Delaware State University has just hired an entirely new training staff for the 2020 Spring Semester.

Last semester the University collaborated with PIVOT, a Physical Trainer corporation, to hire temporary and permanent trainers. This past December PIVOT posted that the university was looking for seven permanent trainers.
Roger Pfister head trainer, Brandon Gautier, Nickolas Allen, Madeline Stoll, Taylor- Rae Danforth, Katherine Soltanuck, and Robert Sales all were accepted. The new training staff has a very broad history with each trainer coming from different backgrounds and work experience.
Head trainer Roger Pfister says “ I heard about the job opening when Dennis Hawkins (DSU Assoc. Athletics Director) called him in need of a new head Athletic Trainer.” Some of Mr. Pfister prior work experience is sixteen years at Shaw University and six months at St. Augustine University.
He felt the Delaware State offered a good position and there was a great opportunity to grow. He also said “ The administration and staff are committed to change and I wanted to be apart of that transition, after speaking to everyone here I felt comfortable to come.”
In another interview, Robert Sales, one of the trainers, said he came to DSU for the “HBCU experience, and wanted to interact with college students. Also wanted to work with coaches and athletes here at DSU”.
Mr. Sales described his job and stated that the “ (In) sport medicine what we do is rehab athletes back from injuries. We also.. are medical providers, proved emergency care with athletes, work hand in hand with physicians, various methods to reduce athletic injuries, provide information and guidance on overall health and well being for athletes.”
