Delaware State University Students Get Career Ready With Career Services

On Monday, January 27th , the Delaware State University’s office of career services  hosted the first annual Professional Dress and Linkedin Headshots workshop of the semester, held in the Martin Luther King student center. Students learned the importance of appropriate business professional attire and took professional headshots for their Linkedin profiles, which gave them the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming career fair and other future career endeavors.

Career service’s coach, Tamika Lee, taught students the Do’s and Don’ts to dressing professionally with an informative power point presentation, showcasing the appropriate and inappropriate ways to dress in business professional attire.

Students attending the workshop were required to come dressed in business professional attire and took professional headshot photos with JR Productions to upload on their Linkedin profiles.

During the workshop students were also given the opportunity to create Linkedin profiles, if they didn’t have them already. With the assistance from career service’s coaches, students were guided through a step – by – step process when creating their  linkedin profiles. Many enthusiastic students attended the workshop and took in valuable information, preparing them for their professional career.

Biology health professions major, Yvani Nelson, expressed her thoughts on the workshop and its impact on her, as she stated that, “attending today’s workshop really helped me to have a better understanding of what business professional attire is and why it is important to dress correctly when going to an interview.”

Student Curryn Henry majoring in Kinesiology also explained how helpful the workshop was stating that, “if it wasn’t for the Professional Dress and Linkedin Headshot workshop, my Linkedin profile wouldn’t be as professional as it is now, having attended the workshop.”

Students who attended the Professional Dress and Linkedin Headshot workshop, gained great information about bettering their business professional attire. Along with receiving a better understanding of what the Delaware State University’s office of career services has to offer the students of Delaware State University.
