It was brought to light that he also researched other big venue music events. He had previously booked a hotel room in August of 2017 in Chicago overlooking the Lollapalooza music festival. He never actually used it though. His girlfriend also stated that her and Paddock were in Vegas a month prior at the Mandalay Bay. While there, she stated that he repeatedly cased out the Las Vegas Village from all of the windows within their room.

Leading up to the shooting Paddock began staying at The Ogden in Downtown Las Vegas. This hotel overlooked the Life is Beautiful Music & Art Festival which ran from September 22nd to September 24th. During this stay his internet search included terms such as, “swat weapons”, “ballistics chart 308”, “SWAT Las Vegas”, and “do police use explosives”.

On September 25th, 2017 Paddock checked into the Mandalay Bay resort. He had a room on the 32nd floor. Four days later he proceeded to check into the room directly connected to the room he was already staying in. Both rooms fully overlooked the music festival at the Las Vegas Village. With the help of hotel Bellhops over the course of a few days, he bought a total of 22 suitcases up to his rooms.

He then proceeded to break the windows in both of his suites and fire over 1,100 rifle rounds into the concert crowd. He also fired eight shots at a jet fuel tank at nearby McCarran International Airport. As a result McCarran Airport was shut down for several hours.

When police finally gained access to Paddock in his suite, he was found with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
