If you missed the home opener for the Hornets at Alumni Stadium on Saturday, you missed a good one! The Delaware State University Hornets got their first win of the season by defeating the Lincoln University Lions in a lopsided victory. The final score was 58-12.
The Hornets were in the driver’s seat every step of the way. It was a perfect way to bounce back after losing the first game of the season.
The weather was favorable for an afternoon of football. Bands from both schools delivered great half-time performances. The fans gathered in the stands and cheered for the Hornets until the time expired from the game clock. After so many disappointing football seasons, will the Hornets finally be able to pull together a winning season?
The team celebrated with family and friends after the game. Although it was an easy win for the Hornets, Coach Milstead said, “We did some things well, but we still have a lot of work to do.” Senior defensive back, Jahad Neibauer also stated, “It feels good to get a win early in the season. We need to carry this momentum to our first conference game against Howard next week.”
Can the Hornets continue its winning streak? Come out and join the homecoming festivities on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Kickoff is at 2:00 p.m.
