An Eventful Saturday For Delaware State University Hornets

By Spring-Brittney Hatcher

I guess you can say the Saturday of Delaware State University’s Homecoming week was the busiest day of the week for the DSU hornets. Saturday morning began with a parade at 10 a.m. in Downtown Dover, DE that went on into the afternoon.

On campus the first Hornet Tailgate was hosted by the SGA Men’s Council and SGA Womens Senate and DSUAA. This event began at noon in the DSU circle. There were several food vendors serving foods of all types: Jamaican, soul food, fried fish, pastries and sweets, etc.

Music from the Tailgate played into the night up until the beginning of other events throughout the day.

Meanwhile, the DSU Homecoming football game began on the football field at 2:00 p.m. Delaware State University vs. Howard University of Washington District of Columbia. The game was very intense and hard fought, but unfortunately victory did not end in the hands of the Hornets.

After the Tailgate and the football game was over, the Greeks picked up the music where the Tailgate left off until the Concert began at 9:00 p.m.

Although the Homecoming Concert began at 9:00 p.m., students were lining up to see their favorite artists at around 8:20 p.m. The concert came to an end at approximately 2:00 a.m.

Finally, an eventful Saturday for the Hornets was wrapped up with an Alumni party at a local night club that ended at approximately 4am.

Delaware State University students returned to their regular schedules on the morning of Monday, October 16.
