Times get hard, and every now and then we need some uplifting. This is the motivation for local DSU Rapper Julian “Soulo” Smith, and friend Marcus “Apollo” Johnson.
Soulo is a Mass Communications major here at DSU, aiming to become the next rapper. Originally from Philadelphia, Soulo teamed up with his good friend Apollo, also from Philadelphia, for their song I Need A Blessing (Lord Knows).
In the song, both rap about their life troubles, and noting that they’re not perfect, but that they are trying their hardest.
In addition to making music, Soulo is a member of Spoken Word Artist United (SWAU), an organization on campus dedicated to expressing the talents of emerging artist, Class Records, for students to produce their music, WDSU “The Hive” on campus radio station, and is even dabbling in acting.
