The Hornet interviewed Equestrian Head Coach Jennifer Ridgely to learn about the renewed spirit of the Delaware State Equestrian Team, “This year our team has many new goals and aspirations. Our team, as well as our boosters, seem to be revived and excited to start our season.” The team has moved to a brand new facility, leaving the them in high spirits at the start of the season.
Ridgely says she is excited about her big returners for the season, these include top point earners, Carlin Savage, Tiffany Lee, Alexis Gratkowski, Brooke Moore and Abigail Buckwalter. Rigdely shared “,They are all solid, it does not matter if they are home or away.” Coach Ridgely also expressed her excitement about returning sophomore Hayley Anderson saying, “Hayley was a superstar all summer, I have seen her confidence increase this past season and I am excited to see her compete with her new confidence.”
Returning senior, Carlin Savage is also ready to get back on the saddle for DSU. Savage told The Hornet “I am excited for the team and the changes that have happened.”
The team’s first meet of the season is against the University of Alabama on September 18th at their new facility in Felton, Delaware, located at the Dovington Training Center. Coach Ridgely hopes the student body will make the trip out to support the girls, “We hope with help of flyers and word of mouth people will come support us. Just like any other team, having a cheering section is a huge confidence booster for the girls.”
