Intramural sports at DSU have grown by leaps and bounds over the past years. Intramural sports allow many athletes of all skill levels to participate in sports of their choice. Some of the sports included in the program are basketball, flag football, soccer, wiffle ball, and dodge ball.

Jomah Watson is the Coordinator of Intramural Sports and takes great pride in the program. Watson said, “I believe everyone, no matter if they believe they are a Division One athlete or just want a form of exercise, has something for them in this program.”

Watson, a DSU alumnus, saw the opportunity after graduation to help give back to his fellow Hornets by being the coordinator and jumped at the chance. “I knew this job fit my capabilities as a leader and as an athlete myself, so why not bring opportunities to my alma mater? Everyone can come out to watch these competitive sporting events and have a good time. It is a positive outlet for all,” Watson said.

What does Watson hope for the future of this program? “I would like to add more sports if possible, get students active in what our program has to offer, add new teams and make it a marquee social event at DSU,” said Watson.

To sign up, students can go to http://www.IMLeagues.com and click under “DSU” to a team or start their own. The fall season runs through November, and the spring schedule starts in January.
