After a surprising finishing season record of 6-5 last season, the football team hopes to top that record this year and soar to even better heights.
Coach Blount believes this fearless team has what it takes to beat their 6-5 record of last season and possibly making it to nine wins.
This 2013 team of Hornets is equipped with a very youthful group of quarterbacks and offense all together.
Nick Elkos was the quarterback this time last year, but he is gone.
Now there is a new quarterback under-center, Cory Murphy. Murphy is a red-shirt senior who is now leading this team.
Blount is really confident in his defense as he feels as though that is going to be their true strength this season.
With only seven seniors on this Hornet team, it is safe to say that the future is looking very bright.
The Hornets started their season on the road to face rival Delaware.
Many came into the game with high hopes on finally beating the Blue Hens for their first time in the “Route 1 Rivalry”.
Well that hope was short-lived as the Blue Hens came out with a vengeance going up 14-0 early in the first quarter.
From there the Hornets would stay behind, but eventually put up seven points before halftime hit.
They were outran by the Blue Hens as they scored with offense and special teams to secure their fourth-straight victory in the battle of the 1st State Cup with a final score of 42-21.
